"Why are blogs so popular? Not only is it because so many people have the desire to write; after all, people wrote before blogs were invented. It is also because blogs have two features that distinguish them from all other forms of writing. First, they provide the hope or the illusion that someone else will read one's writing.... Indeed the "number of views" statistic is a highly motivating feature in the blogosphere because it lets the blogger know exactly how many people have at least seen the posting.Blogs also provide the readers with the abilities to leave their reactions and comments - gratifying for both the blogger, who now has a verifiable audience, and the reader-cum-writer."
So there you have it gentle reader, I blog in the hopes that you will read and perhaps even comment.
Maria Bartiromo
Do any of you watch CNBC? Do you like Maria Bartiromo? I am sure she is a nice person, but I can't
stand watching her on TV. The first part is her voice. It kind of grates on me. It reminds me of Fran Dreschler from the Nanny. And I just hate her catch phrase, "It's Four O'clock, do you know where your money is?". It seems so superficial and a play on wanting to know where you children are. Ok, I know this has nothing to do with anything. I am just rambling a bit this morning. I will actually switch (gasp) sometimes to Fox Business news to watch Liz Claman.
Transactions
I did have two transactions this week. First I sold my STO I just decided that state run oil companies are just not as well-run as I would like. I owned them for 2 years and made 8%. They can't all be home runs, right? I will likely invest the proceeds into stocks I currently own, like BBEP and IP. Secondly, I bought AWRE which is a stock I profiled as a potential MFI stock in mid-November. I have placed it in my discretionary portfolio for now. They announce earnings next week and I really like their story. Knowing my luck, they will disappoint next week!
Dividend Portfolio
First, overall I guess it was a decent week. My portfolio was up 80 basis points. That was exactly on par with the Russell 3000. That makes me up 36.25% for the year.
