Plenty of Spirit

Sometimes stocks come on the MFI screen and a year later you are wondering "why or why didn't I buy that?"  Now in all frankness, it has been a very good year for my MFI index in total.  The table below shows how the 50 stocks have performed so far this year:

On average, they are up 39.4% for the year and 1.2% for the month.  That is like "whoa man!".  You can see that in October, three have popped: NTI, SAVE and VG   SAVE is Spirit airlines, basically a no-frills, low cost carrier like EasyJet in the UK.  I never bought them, even though they were cheap by all metrics and growing (additional planes and routes were adding substantially to revenues) as airlines have historically been a poor investment.  I was so wrong.  They have spiked 120% this year and 14% this past week as their planes have been getting fuller and fuller.
