It was the second consecutive strong week for my overall portfolio, up a snappy 3.3%. That means in the past two weeks, +7.7%! I do not know about the rest of you, but I can not think of many times I have gained 7.7% in two weeks. Of course it helps to have a wind at your back, and the Russell 3000 was up 3.8% over that stretch.

2013 Gain | 11.5% |
The 11.5% gain for 2013 is solid, if not spectacular (compared with index). You will note my open positions are trailing ever so slightly. That is really because I have taken some major profits in 2013 (HFC, MPC, BHK, JQC and KMF to name a few). So those gains have shofted from the open bucket to the closed bucket (up a nice 5.6 points). Note I also calculate an annual IRR, which at 17.7% is quite decent.
Expected Dividends
Here are my expected annual dividends (as a reminder, all value are multiplied by a factor for privacy reasons) on the current portfolio (I find this to be a critical metric):

MFI Portfolio
As I noted during the week, this portfolio has finally moved ahead of the indices. That is very exciting for me as I do believe in the MFI approach still. And it is streaky. It would be nice to have a two year streak to the good!

Discretionary Portfolio
I also buy stocks that do not fit in either bucket. These have historically been a mish-mash of ideas, but now it is supposed to be deep value stocks. They might not qualify for MFI due to income issues. But may trade at discount to book. Some may be MFI stocks I really like, but do not want to be held to one year constraint I place on MFI holdings.
