Pretty Busy

Sorry, have not posted this week.  Been pretty busy with some personal stuff.  Life isn't always perfect, but you have to keep plugging along.

Portfolios are lagging a bit.  Probably hurt the most by TC_PT, which is turning into a very volatile holding to have in my top 3.  It has dropped 10% this week.  Luckily, I have a longer term view, so no biggie.   At least I sold my CDE, which is down another 6.5% post sale.  GTAT has been my strong stock, up another 8% this week and up 23% since I bought them back the day after tax day. So I have traded GTAT three times in 2013 for over $22,000 (using my factor) in gains already this year.  Sweet.  But I am no longer trading. I believe in their story.

As you will recall, I was doing a little chest-thumping last week as my dividend portfolio had zoomed ahead of the indices.  Well, things have deflated a bit, and we now trail by 3.3%, which is a pretty sizeable fall in three short days.  The markets will teach humility, often the hard way.

Obviously the drop in TC-PT has hurt, but AAPL has given a lot back this week as well. O is my quiet stock on fire, now up over 35% on the year.  Sadly, it is one of my smaller holdings...

Good Earnings for CSCO

Looks like CSCO had strong numbers after the bell.  I show them up in dinner time trading by about 8% (Cisco Surges 8% On U.S. Strength And A Steadily Improving Global Economy).   As CSCO is about 1/16 of my entire portfolio, an 8% move on them is a 0.5% impact overall.  So, all else being equal I will be off to a nice start.

Shift In the Winds

The good news for MFI investors is the trend I have noted of MFI beginning to do better is continuing.  In my 12 open tracking portfolios,  the most recent 8 are all winning.  Not by a lot (about 2 points on average), but directionally nice.  I do wonder if for profit education has finally bottomed.  ESI is up 33% since I almost bought them at start of May.
