One Less Stock To Buy (Plus a Look at Micro Caps)

One Less Bell To Answer

Probably showing my age here quoting lyrics from the 5th Dimension.  But it is so easy, it even rhymes:

"One less bell to answer
One less egg to fry
One less man to pick up after
I should be happy"

Just need to change the second line to "One Less Stock To Buy".

I had mentioned this morning some of the stocks on my watch list.  One was CRTX, which I was actually quite excited about and it was on my short list for November MFI.  Scratch that.  They are being bought out at a ridiculously cheap price (IMO).  Here is the press release (Chiesi Farmaceutici and Cornerstone Therapeutics Announce Agreement for a Merger Transaction in Which Chiesi Will Acquire 100 Percent Ownership of Cornerstone for $9.50 per Share in Cash).  The stock was trading at 9.74 when announced and it dropped to $9.47.  So now there are about 8 lawsuits out there.  There are always lawsuits when a merger/buyout is announced, but I have to admit these seem to have some merit.  Stay tuned.  Maybe they are a good stock to buy if there is an honest process.

Micro Cap Analysis

Since a lot of stocks are feeling fully valued, I wanted to think about casting a wider net.  So this afternoon, I ran a top 100 MFI list.  But instead of looking at stocks greater than $300m market cap, I am looking at stocks smaller that $300m market cap.  That is getting pretty small and you need to start being careful even about buying/selling as you can actually impact the price if not careful.  Also a fair smattering of Chinese stocks here, obviously you would want to be cautious on those names.
