Whew! I expect my readers do not realize it, but the day I retire one tranche and add a new one actually takes a fair amount of effort on my part. Besides the actual buying of stocks (which was a bit difficult today due to my being in transit, coming back home from Cape Cod); my worksheets and my Yahoo portfolios all have to be amended.
I came very, very, very close to going with NUS instead of BRCD. Time will tell which will be the better stock. I also had to think a bit about how to track the AGX as it was a rollover of a stock.
So here are my four tranches:

As discussed I did increase my $ per stock in the August tranche by about 25%. I had added dollars before, but much smaller amounts. So cross your fingers that the add was good timing.
Then here is my new summary table:
Category/Tranche | August | November | February | May | Total |
Initial Investment | 25,000 | 25,000 | 25,000 | 25,000 | 100,000 |
Current Tranche | 0.4% | 25.1% | 21.4% | -1.3% | 11.0% |
Previous Tranche | 41.4% | 43.7% | 78.3% | 33.0% | 55.2% |
Tranche -2 | 14.1% | - | - | - | 3.5% |
MFI Overall Gain | 61.9% | 79.8% | 116.4% | 31.3% | 72.3% |
Current Balance | 40,472 | 44,939 | 54,103 | 32,813 | 172,327 |
R3K Current Tranche | 19.4% | 50.1% | 9.9% | 4.5% | 21.0% |
R3K Overall Gain | 45.9% | 50.1% | 33.1% | 24.2% | 37.0% |
R3K Balance | 36,469 | 37,524 | 33,264 | 29,722 | 136,980 |
Annualized IRR | 27.2% | 39.8% | 65.3% | 23.7% | 40.0% |
I was unsure what to do with a 3rd year of tranches in there. I thought about just two categories: Current Tranche and Prior Tranches. But I decided to list all tranches in the table: Current Tranche, Previous Tranche and Tranche -2 (wasn't sure of good name for that one).
Finally, here is how my MFI is doing against the benchmark by month:
Date | Differential | Value |
-2.20% | 99,765 | |
-1.78% | 102,798 | |
-2.26% | 102,594 | |
-2.23% | 102,881 | |
-0.43% | 106,804 | |
2.00% | 110,423 | |
4.75% | 115,831 | |
4.29% | 114,888 | |
6.91% | 124,799 | |
10.46% | 124,536 | |
19.67% | 138,655 | |
19.75% | 143,514 | |
23.70% | 150,105 | |
26.63% | 157,138 | |
24.70% | 150,619 | |
25.66% | 158,116 | |
30.38% | 162,991 | |
29.65% | 162,428 | |
32.14% | 167,001 | |
40.63% | 177,971 | |
31.73% | 167,054 | |
Current | 35.35% | 172,327 |
You can see I have regained a lot of lost ground in August (after a terrible July).

Looks like you made the better pick by a landslide, I chose NUS :(
