Bonjour De Montreux

Greetings From Montreux

I have a two week business trip in Switzerland, so I have a rare weekend that I can relax a bit and explore.

I am in Montreux, which sits on Lac Leman... which as I understand it is called Lake Geneva in the states.  I am staying at the ambitiously named "Hotel Splendid", which I would describe as "quaint", though it certainly has a Splendid view.

After the pop in the markets yesterday, I do feel I have the right to celebrate here a little bit.  So I did have an "umbrella" drink last night (Caipirinha).  I am sitting right now on my 4th floor balcony listening to Radio Swiss Pop, which is actually about the best free internet radio station I have ever found (along with sister station Radio Swiss Jazz and Radio Swiss Classical).

I got here yesterday taking the remarkable Swiss train system from Zurich.  It is true that you can set your watch by their trains.  I had to change trains in Lausanne, and I only had a scheduled five minute window... which seems too tight but they make it work.  As son as I finish this post, I am heading down to get my "petit dejeuner"... hopefully some good coffee and a croissant.

I suppose I should comment quickly on my dividend portfolio.  It was up about 2.5% in yesterday's out burst.  I am now up an extremely respectable 13.9% on the year (I will take that).  My overall portfolio is up a blazing 21.2%, so it has been a good year.
