I have seen times in the past where it was clear that some people knew something in advance of a public announcement. I have seen and documented on this blog sharp increases in volume and then price increases.
There was a new suspect today (ASTX):

The sharp spike in ASTX caused the MFI Index to go up 1.5% on the day. An 18% jump in a single day on 3x volume on no discernible news.
We will see if something happens over the weekend or early next week. But this sort of stuff is a great reason NOT to go with short term trading and automatic sells, but rather sit back an see what happens.
