Now a few words on some of my Chinese stocks in my portfolio. First, I noticed that LIWA actually made the top 50 list this weekend. To make it clear, I check all my Chinese stocks to see if they should be on the list before buying them. They are often not on the list do to some incomplete fields in the Compustat data, such as showing data every 6 months instead of quarterly. LIWA clearly got their data figured out.

The Chinese stocks all seem to have great growth potential and strong balance sheets... however one bugaboo that they have is a great deal of share dilution. So they often have a 30% growth in income, but the same eps.

Here are my stocks: UTA, CHCG, CEU, LIWA, CMFO, QKLS, CBPO, SHE, CSKI, NEWN, and CCME.

UTA - announced earnings the other day. The street was initially bearish, I think because of the dilution (13.8m to 18.0m shares in past 12 months). They had closed at 8.39, went as low as 7.79. But then they have rallied the past two days and are now at a snappy 9.47.

CHCG - not much to say here. This has been a disaster stock for me. They are not making money, but they are still unbleivably cheap. They have 74m in tangible assets and only about 7.7m in liabilities for a TBV of about 66m. They have 54.8 shares at 38 cents each... that is a market cap around 22m. 1/3 of book, that is very cheap.

CEU - this is an education play. They announced earnings the other day and they were pretty lukewarm (for China). Earnings were down a penny, again from the dilution (common theme with shares increasing from 24.4m to 31.4m).

LIWA - I thought they had a strong quarter (they recycle copper into wire), but the market was pretty ho-hum.

CMFO - this is a marine/fish food company. They did overcome the dilution, increasing income 40% and eps 28%. They expect to have 100m in revenues in 2010 (had 19.5m q1) and 21.5m in income (4.5m in q1). If they hit those goals, I will be pleased... I think that'd be about 75 cents per share earnings.

QKLS - this is a supermarket chain. They will announce on Monday. It'd be nice to get some good news.

CBPO - these guys report on Monday as well (it'll be a busy day). They have been on fire recently and are sharply in the past few weeks (around $11 on April 1st and now 13.76).

SHE - I really like this company, they make valves (water is where it is at). They are about to move off the AMEX and onto the Nasdaq, which should give them more viability. They are looking for serious growth, if it doesn't happen, the stock will give back the 50% gain I have thus far.

CSKI - I have owned this stock about 5 times, and have done quite will with them They are relatively cheap right now at $13.65... they were in the low 20s not that long ago. Shorts are always busting CSKI down, and they did announce a minor restatement and a revenue shortfall for q1. The stock sold off initially (from 13.46 to as low as $12.47) but it has gained it all back and closed today at 13.65. This is one stock I might sell early if it moves back towards $20.

NEWN - This is a new holding for me, they manufacture/design batteries. They were actually mentioned today in Jubak's blog, where he discussed a US battery company (A123). NEWN is profitable and growing. They are on the OB, so if/when they apply for a major listing, could see some upwards movement.

CCME - final one, and incredibly cheap. They advertise on buses etc in China. It is a high margin and high growth business. Here is an interesting insight on them (China MediaExpress: China's Hidden Gem, Part 1). They report tomorrow morning.
