Another Terrific Week

Back from my quickie NYC trip. It was a sensational week for my MFI portfolio (I am getting to like this) as the market continues to roar upwards to infinity and beyond. Without further ado, here is the graph, which shows major separation between my magenta line and the blue line, which represents the Russell 3000:

So I am now 5.2% above the benchmark. There are people doing better out there, but I am pleased. A better was to think about it is my annualized Internal Rate of Return is about 25%. That is seven points better than the benchmark. A seven point whooping is pretty good for a magic formula.

It'll definitely be slowing down transaction wise for me, my next stock to sell is BBSI around Labor day. I do have some cash in my fist, so if there is a dip, I may add a stock... we'll see.

"Give Me a T!" My three best stocks currently begin with the letter T! How is that for a selection process?

TGB - up 66%. I was right about this stock getting to $4. It is now $4.38, beyond my wildest expectations.
TGIS - It helped that I bought 'em cheap at $9.18. Up 45.4%. I still like their upside.
TRLG - Up 44.7%. I have to admit I'd likely sell these guys if it wasn't MFI. I like their story, but the stock may be a little ahead of itself.

Just Listed

I did start buying a few stocks from my "Just Listed" approach. So far it has worked well.

CHCG has been a pocket rocket, up about 35% since I bought 'em in early June. I also like their story a lot (China 3C Group: Intriguing Microcap), though I don't think they're on the list right now.

UG had a great week, rising $2 from 12.52 to $14.58.

USHS is my 3rd choice from this method, it is down 15%, though they seem very cheap. A new stock on this list is CYDS. They are quite cheap, but I haven't done much research on them as I have a full boat. My Just Listed Tracking portfolio is up almost 11% while the benchmark in the same time frame is up under 3%. Granted, NPLA is a large component of the success (up 198%) but even without them JL would be up over 5% and still beating the benchmark (and I'd argue if you're going to throw out the best, you should throw out the worst).

Here is my list of current stocks and overall performance:

Ray, I advise you start with Yahoo Groups where they have a discussion board on MFI (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/magicformulainvesting/)
There are a number of people there that have used a variety of ultra low-cost brokers. Also, the MFI website itself has some answers to FAQ (http://www.magicformulainvesting.com/)
