Regarding your comment about mutual funds...I didn't know if you had heard about the long-standing newsletter 'No Load Fund X' (http://www.fundx.com/) that employs a strategy of moving in and out of high-performing funds, much like you suggested. They have a number of mutual funds that track their strategy (FUNDX, HOTFX, RELAX, STOCX, INCMX). I'm not an investor, but it does seem like it has been a successful strategy.
