My Mechanical Update
As my ten faithful readers know, I have been tracking mechanical portfolios for the past 2 + years that select stocks when they are new to the MFI screens in the past 12 months. So far, this approach has really worked well. I then started migrating my own portfolio to this approach, though it is a bit difficult to fully implement in reality. I now have about 65% of my portfolio invested this way, and it has done very well for me as well, with my average open/closed stock beating the benchmark by more than 6.5 points. Here are my past and current holdings and how they've fared (note - I am glad I bailed out of JTX, it has dropped from my $2.20 sale price to $1.56):
