I have noted that MFI stocks have gone straight up since the election last week. I guess out-of-favor stocks (a common MFI theme) are suddenly in favor. Here is how the tranches are doing:
11/27/2015 | 6.9% | 5.7% |
12/31/2015 | 11.0% | 8.5% |
1/29/2016 | 20.2% | 15.1% |
2/26/2016 | 18.6% | 14.2% |
3/24/2016 | 18.9% | 9.0% |
4/22/2016 | 8.4% | 5.5% |
5/27/2016 | 12.0% | 5.0% |
6/30/2016 | 12.0% | 4.7% |
7/29/2016 | 5.9% | 0.8% |
8/26/2016 | 5.5% | 0.7% |
9/30/2016 | 5.0% | 0.4% |
10/28/2016 | 8.2% | 2.7% |
Average 12 | 11.0% | 6.0% |
So all twelve open tranches are ahead, with an average lead of 5 points. Thene here is how the dividend stocks (my subset using a 2.6% yield or higher) have fared since 10/28:
Tranche Date | 28-Oct | 14-Nov | Change |
11/27/2015 | 5.4% | 11.7% | 6.2% |
12/31/2015 | 11.3% | 17.0% | 5.7% |
1/29/2016 | 16.6% | 22.9% | 6.4% |
2/26/2016 | 11.9% | 18.6% | 6.8% |
3/24/2016 | 13.9% | 21.4% | 7.4% |
4/22/2016 | 4.8% | 11.9% | 7.1% |
5/27/2016 | 8.9% | 13.9% | 5.0% |
6/30/2016 | 5.4% | 11.4% | 6.0% |
7/29/2016 | -1.9% | 3.3% | 5.2% |
8/26/2016 | -1.5% | 4.8% | 6.2% |
9/30/2016 | -0.5% | 7.9% | 8.4% |
10/28/2016 | 0.0% | 5.1% | 5.1% |
All Tranches | 6.2% | 12.5% | 6.3% |
So here instead of comparing against R3K, I am comparing against values as of 10/28. So you can see basically a doubling (6.3% to 12.5%) in that time frame. You will also note (comparing both tables) that dividend stocks are beating the total of MFI 12.5% to 11.0%. Of course if you compared dividend stocks to non-dividend stocks it is even wider... about 12.5% to 9.5%.
Hmmm, maybe I need some dividend stocks in my five picks today.
