Went to NY yesterday and saw the Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Great show. Perfect day. Today, I will relax and watch the final round of the US Open. I am kind of a final round guy, I rarely watch the other rounds and I just watch the majors. But I love the way the pressure ratchets up. Then I will watch the Spurs and Heat tonight. Hopefully a good game. While the series is tied, the last three games have not been close.
It was not a great investing week for me. I lost about 1.6% and am pretty much in a statistical tie with the Russell 3000, up 15.1% on the year.

Definitely under-performing as dividend stocks appear to be out of vogue. I intend to keep plugging along. Just means I am getting more shares with re-invested dividends. Here is a chart of dividends by quarter:
As you can see, they are producing a solid investment stream. I think 2012 was a bit unusual as a lot of companies announced special dividends as it was unsure what the tax rate would be in 2013 due to the Fiscal Cliff (which so far has been as scary as Y2K).
MFI Portfolio
This continues to do well, both my real money and my tracking/index. Basically beating the Russell 3000 by 4 to 5 points here in 2013.

I am starting to play with ideas for my five replacement stocks for August 15th portfolio (just two months away). I have ABT, FLR, STX, BAH, AAPL, LO, RGR and WNR on the list right now. I am sure I will think of more.
You know, I just looked and I understated how well MFI is doing of late. The 12 open portfolios in my monthly tracking system are up on average by 6 points! That is a blowout! The June 22nd portfolio from last year is up by five points and will be the first winner in a couple of years. This is so exciting.
I did skim Barron's this weekend, to see if any of my holdings got a thumbs up. But it looks like I was o fer. Enjoy the rest of Sunday everyone!
