Variations on Monthly Tracking Portfolios

Besides my standard monthly tracking portfolio, I have two subsets that I have also tracked back to 2006:
  • "New" stocks to the monthly tracking portfolio in past year
  • Stocks with Dividends > 2.6%
The new approach has been a wash. No material difference between it and all 50 stocks. But picking the higher yielding stocks has been a great strategy, up about 80% over the standard approach. That is why I have been moving my portfolio to higher yielding stocks (INTC, CHKE, UNTD, CEL, MAIL PM and RAI).
