When Can $22 = $27 Part 2

When Can $22 = $27 Part 2

Building on my thoughts from blog yesterday - Chris DeMuth of seeking alpha had written an article saying that people should buy FUNC because (1) it is fundamentally a good company and (2) the first cut of new Russell 3000 index will be decided today (end of Friday, May 11th).

The thesis is that index funds are forced to buy the new stocks and this can cause them to rise.  I know I have seen this before.  Chris clearly believes for FUNC it could be a 20% rise ($22 to $27), although that seems high to me... maybe 5 to 10%.  But he knows a LOT more than me.

Anyway, if it is good for FUNC, my logic is that it is good for all stocks that have potential to join R3K.  He feels that market cap needs to be above $150m and it was not on list last year.  So I ran a screen of stocks to try and replicate that and then I compared with official Russell 3000 list.

I then bought 20 stocks.  It was a bit difficult as many are not very liquid.  The idea is just to hold for a week or so.  Here are my twenty stocks:
