The best thing about dividend stocks is collecting dividends. The takes the mentality that the stock market is a casino to the mentality that the stock market is a place to make investments. Four of my stocks went x dividend today, FCX, SAI, FSC and JQC. That is $1,455 smackers using my multiplier. As I do not need the money right now, it all just gets reinvested. That means a quarter from now, the dividend on the same four socks will be $1,475. I know it isn't an earth shattering increase quarter over quarter, but as the Rolling Stones sang, "Time is on my Side". So eight years from now, it will have compounded quite nicely, thank you.
