To Infinity And Beyond

To Infinity And Beyond

Investing often feels like a battle against yourself. We fear losses more than we value gains. I know I am as guilty of that as anyone.  That is a big reason I am trying "to step away from the batter" (a reference that over-stirring pancake batter makes for worse pancakes). Also, if I am really a long term investor, why am I making daily trades? My wife's IRA and kids college funds do as well as my brokerage account - and I probably make just one or two trades a year for them.

This is a year where I will need to think a bit. I am expecting to get more cash than usual - not entirely sure what I will do with
it.  I am already planning to bump some investments, but I may need more ideas/plans.  May be it is just best to stay in cash.  Bonds seem bubbleicious, while stocks seem to me approaching full value.

Oh well, 1st world problem as they say.

Rally Fizzle?

While I have noted how well MFI stocks have done post the Trump victory, they have had a minor setback this week.  Today it was the component of MFI I have questioned a bit, biotech stocks.  In his press conference today, Trump channeled Hillary a little bit, bashing drug prices.

  • AMAG dropped from $35.70 to $23.40
  • MYGN was down 8% today
  • FPRX was down 8% today as well
  • UTHR was down 6% today (sad as I own).

But,  all is still pretty good.  Open tranches are leading by 5 points.

Shows What I Know

In the shows what i know category,  One of the best MFI stocks has been BPT - despite my suggesting to steer clear of royalty trusts as they do not have the reinvestment component like Jake's Bubble Gum shop.
