Buy and Hold Versus Aggressive TradingI have been visiting another blog of late (Ed's Talking Stock). It is an entertaining site where Ed discusses the market mood at the start of each day and posts his trades along with his daily and monthly stock performance. He is an aggressive trader, using leveraged ETFs and holding concentrated positions. Just for fun, I am setting up a portfolio that will be buy and hold for a year and we will see which approach fares the best.
My portfolio is a blend of my Magic formula stocks, with some financial stocks and insurance companies thrown in for good measure. My portfolio has 50 stocks and I am assuming a $100,000 starting investment (2,000 per stock). Without further ado, here is my Nifty Fifty (note I show the change for today, but inception to date is 0, so I am effectively starting it tonight - also, O do not show dividends, but I will be including them):
