I wrote over the weekend that I would be finalizing my July 2017 MFI Formula tranche at close of day Monday. It ended up being a great one.
7/1/2017 | Start | Current | Dividend | Pct Gain | R3K Gain |
CSCO | $30.98 | $42.67 | $1.24 | 41.7% | 17.4% |
GME | $20.95 | $15.47 | $1.52 | -18.9% | 17.4% |
HPQ | $17.60 | $23.37 | $0.53 | 35.8% | 17.4% |
RGR | $60.70 | $56.70 | $0.99 | -5.0% | 17.4% |
SYNT | $16.21 | $37.77 | $0.00 | 133.0% | 17.4% |
Totals | 37.3% | 17.4% |
I will sell GME today. SYNT, CSCO and HPQ will be sold tomorrow to capture LT CG tax rate (a big deal here for SYNT with 133% gain).
My new July tranche bounced back with great day yesterday, so already up 2.7%... although trailing benchmark:

Energetic Energy
I noted at end of June I had started a basket of Energy stocks as oil prices are moving up sharply but stock prices of energy stocks have not kept pace. This has worked very well so far. It is mostly oil and gas names, but I do have some alternative energy as well.
