Twice a quarter,I have a real money MFI tranche hit their anniversary date. At that point I sell the five stocks and then I buy five new ones. Always exciting.
The next date is August 15th. So I will "close" the tranche at the close of business 8/14 and buy 5 new names on the 15th. I will sell any losers around the 14th and I will sell my winners on the 16th. Gotta keep those taxes at a minimum.
The August 15th 2017 tranche looks to be a nice winner. I got good earnings from MD today, so not many bullets left to dodge - although you never know. I will also be starting my 7th year of MFI Select with the new tranche as I started my reboot in August 2012. It has been a nice run thus far.
Here is a snapshot of where current tranche stands:
8/15/2017 | Start | Current | Dividend | Pct Gain | R3K Gain |
GHC | $591.10 | $538.50 | $5.08 | -8.0% | 17.0% |
ICHR | $19.80 | $21.41 | $0.00 | 8.1% | 17.0% |
MD | $43.00 | $45.04 | $0.00 | 4.7% | 17.0% |
SIMO | $43.05 | $54.64 | $0.90 | 29.0% | 17.0% |
RHI | $44.15 | $77.72 | $1.04 | 78.4% | 17.0% |
Totals | 22.4% | 17.0% |
Have to be happy with 22.4%... right? Just one loser right now, GHC. ICHR is always all over the place, could be 10% higher or lower.
I intend to continue my allocation of more and more $ to MFI. I will likely increase the August allocation by 25%, that will put it on par with my other tranches.
Not yet decided what new stocks I'll buy. Here is a short initial list of possibilities:
AGX |
FTSI |
CAAP |
EGY |
CASA |
WDC |
