As George Harrison told us (while his guitar gently weeps) that all things must pass - so it is with my most recent MFI Select tranche from August 15th, 2017. I now call the tranche closed. I sold GHC today and will sell the other 4 names on Thursday to assure LG capital gains treatment. But for bookkeeping, i will use today's closing prices as fini.
This is my 21st MFI Select tranche to close. The average closed tranche is up 22.6%, which is pretty darned impressive (if I may say so myself).
I am pretty sure I know my five stocks I'll be adding tomorrow: AGX, AMCX, CJREF, GME and SGH. But more on that in a later post.

So a solid win here. Up at the end 27.8%, a 10 point stomp of the Russell 3000.
- RHI was clearly the big story. These boring stocks often seem to do the best.
- GHC was even more boring, I doubt it was ever up or down more than 7% the entire year.
- ICHR was all over the place. It traded between $19 and $35 in past 52 weeks. So I got it at close to the bottom.
- MD was pushing $56 and be rumored to be bought 6 months ago. Then Jim Chanos announced he was short and it dropped to $43. Decent finish down the stretch.
- SIMO was like ICHR, all over the board. It dropped from $54 to $44 during the late January/early February sell off. But is now near 52 week high.
I also like to do a look back at the stocks I considered but didn't buy (CBDB). They were great. Up 37%. HSII was the huge winner, up 132%. FOXA was up 64% (thanks to DIS).

Good to bounce back with a solid winner after the May 2017 stink bomb. On the three open tranches, November also looks really good. But February and May have some work to do. But in 6 months, a lot can happen.
