I sold my retiring stocks this morning and bought the five names I mentioned over the weekend. Bit of a bumpy start as BKE had a rough day (retail seems so yesterday).
4/1/2017 | Start | Current | Dividend | Pct Gain | R3K Gain |
BKE | $18.25 | $17.55 | $0.00 | -3.9% | -0.3% |
CSCO | $33.91 | $33.58 | $0.00 | -1.0% | -0.3% |
GILD | $67.87 | $67.10 | $0.00 | -1.1% | -0.3% |
OMC | $86.24 | $85.70 | $0.00 | -0.6% | -0.3% |
SYNT | $16.80 | $16.58 | $0.00 | -1.3% | -0.3% |
Totals | -1.6% | -0.3% |
But nothing was exactly inspiring on day 1. I did add a little bit per stock (say a 5% bump), much less than the 30 to 40% bump I had budgeted for. Just does not seem to be a great time for going long.
The five rejects were just down 45 basis points as RGR had a nice day. But the five stocks I sold were down an average of 2.2%. So I guess I was better off for the day with the switch.
Oh well, no sense over-analyzing one day.
