September 27th 2013 - New Monthly Tracking Portfolio

Just finished our JDRF walk.  I do not think anyone from here donated,  but it is not too late!  I just set up the most recent tracking portfolio.  Here are the dividend stocks (2.6% yield or greater):

Stock Initial Price 52 week low  Mkt Cap  Yield
IQNT                9.56 2.1           309 45.8%
GNI              72.35 61.5           109 17.4%

PBI              18.06 10.34         3,645 6.2%
MO              34.71 30.01       69,587 5.2%
IDCC              37.21 33.06         1,532 5.1%
LO              45.23 36.7       16,961 4.8%
VCI              28.69 23.69         1,115 4.3%
PETS              16.38 9.82           329 3.8%
USMO              14.00 10.34           303 3.6%

HRB              26.36 16.44         7,219 3.0%
RGR              63.56 40         1,229 3.0%
MSFT              33.27 26.26     277,073 2.8%
AGX              21.82 13.9           306 2.7%
RTN              78.74 52.24       25,354 2.7%
CSCO              23.33 16.68     125,725 2.7%
HPQ              21.17 11.35       41,049 2.6%

Here are the new stocks:

Stock Initial Price End Price 52 week low Mkt Cap New
CREG 2.44 2.44                 0.78           123 1
APEI 38.15 38.15                29.20           673 1
MO 34.71 34.71                30.01       69,587 1

Interesting that MO is on both lists. Is it time to buy them?  CREG is certainly one to be wary of.  It is a Chinese stock and these have had a dubious performance over the years due to fraud.

Weekend Update - September 28th, 2013

Wow, it has been so busy.  Nice to get home for a beautiful Fall New England Weekend.  Just got done with a little yard sprucing.  We live on the edge of some woods and we definitely have a battleground between the woods and the yard.  Pretty funny, got out the chainsaw and worked for at least 1 1/2 hours.  Now as I sit on the porch, it feels like we didn't even make a dent.

I was actually up about 1% this week, while the R3K dropped a percent.  So I am starting to really stretch out my lead.  I am up just over 30% on the year, while the R3K is just shy of 21%.

Dividend Portfolio

This continues to be the laggard.  I did sell about 40% of my TC-PT this week.  I did buy IP and ABR  so net net I did increase the size of the portfolio a bit.

As you can see, up about 15% on the year.  Nothing to be ashamed about, especially when you consider it is about 20% in cash.  The yield is 5.8% and it is throwing of about $54k a year in dividends (with my factor).

Discretionary Portfolio

ACAS had a nice run this week while GNW and GTAT continue to be very strong.  Recall ACAS is selling for just 70% of book value and they are actively investing in the best investment out there... themselves.
